Nice blog! I dislike Valentine’s Day a great deal because I hate anything mushy or soppy but I do sympathise, because I get irritated when people bang on about how much they hate Hallowe’en or Guy Fawkes. Just ignore it and get on with your life!

Yeah have tried all that. And the dealer space isn’t negotioable, i’ve tried that too. That and we worked out together that the dealer space is too expensive now, so I can’t do the con.. but I am going to work on the fetish fair.

Have you tried asking your suppliers for goods on sale-or-return specifically for the convention? ie. tell them you think you can sell a lot and can they lend you stock. (even with reduced credit terms, ie. pay the following week)

Also – very important – the prices for the dealer’s space is probably very negotiable at any time, and if they are trawling the web for dealers it might mean they have a lot of space to fill, so you should be able to get a good discount (start at half the price quoted?). Or offer a percentage of your turnover, so maybe work out a best-case turnover and work back a % to meet the price they quote. If you don’t make that much you will be saving money.
