A day in the pouch

I’ve been offline for 5 days due to company, but  been keeping an eye on my food intake on my fitness pal and hitting a high of 55-60g of protein each day.

This week gone I lost 2.2lbs which is better than the week before. Also my mood has been much better now I am concentrating on making my protein higher.

I would like to know other ways to increase it, other than eggs, fish, and cheese but it’s not a bad diet, just a bit samey. I’ve purchased some hock ham bits, as they are high in protein too, and will try that for the next few days.

Today’s a day in the pouch

Breakfast  was a bit late, due to seeing my friend off to the station, and it being Sunday. We went to the local supermarket as we needed milk, and I had a bowl of their porridge. I managed half the bowl, which I think was about 200mls. It was very yummy. 5g of protein.

A snack  a few hours later of a Waitrose Poached Salmon Terrine which is a perfect snack size and gives me 7g of protein.

Lunch was a Waitrose Love Life Cheese and Onion quiche which is crust-less, just a little pastry in the bottom which I leave. This works out at about 13g of protein.

I didn’t take an afternoon snack, as I was going to have dinner early due to a raid in SWTOR so for dinner I had some soft boiled eggs mixed with goats cheese and ham hock. This worked out at 38g of protein!

So in total around 66g of protein, not including the cups of tea and milk I had. Which is good.

It concerned me a little that i was hitting around 1000 Calories too, but i’ve been told that it’s not such a bad thing.

I really want to try to find new things to add to my high protein diet (still in the mushy stage unfortunately) but it might have to wait until I’m onto more solid food.

Tomorrow I have swimming again :) so happy about that.

A day in the pouch

This morning I woke later than I had intended, arond 8.30 am and had to get ready quick and head out to wait for the Queen to visit my town.

It was cold, it was windy and it was raining and I forgot my hat.

I packed my breakfast into a portable bottle, the same as yesterday, 100mls actimel, 100mls protein shake, little bit of almond milk and my meds into my lunch box. Then I went out to meet the OH family and had my breakfast shake while we waited.. and waited.

For lunch I just had some smoked salmon (50g) mixed with my fage sea food sauce which worked out at 15g of protien.

When we got back from seeing the Queen and sitting with family for lunch I was very tired from standing out in the cold, so went for an hours nap that turned into two then had two of my little Waitrose seafood entree’s for a snack as I wouldn’t get dinner until late as I am off to meditation class at 6.

Meditation at the Yoga Barn was amazing. After getting soaked in the rain walking there I sat wrapped in a blanket and we started. She explained the three stages they use, Pranayama (breath control), Pratyahara (withdrawal of senses), and Dharana (focusing the mind on a single point). I was then invited to stay for the Kirtan group afterwards which I was unsure of but happy to try.

I sung along to the chants, and was unsure to begin with but then during one of them I seemed to zone out. The music, drums and singing were still there but I was by a camp fire, with a clear night sky above me. Half in the desert and half in the woods. Around the fire was a mixture of gypsies, native American Indians and Buddhists chanting, playing instruments and dancing.

It was an amazing swept up feeling then I was suddenly back in the yoga barn.  This happened about three times. Such an amazing feeling, and even walking down the dark street, through the woods to my bus stop home I felt at peace and happy with the world.

Dinner  when I got home was just a handfull of salmon, a boiled egg, melted camembert and some cranberry sauce. I wasn’t really in the mood to cook.

Protein intake 44g out of a goal of 60-80g
